It ain’t bluegrass, honey…it’s more like the grandpappy of bluegrass. Balled in Burlap is an old-time string band drawing from a catalog of music rooted in 18th– and 19th– century Americana. They play fiddle tunes with a kick, perfect for swirling up clouds of dust at a barnyard dance. With members hailing from Missoula and Helena, the band backs Missoula caller Michelle Karcher, who masterfully turns a room full of clutzes into a joyful crowd of twirling dancers. Musicians are Aaron Parrett on fiddle/banjo/guitar, Brian Hall on fiddle/mando, Nann Parrett on banjo/guitar, and Todd Harwell on bass fiddle.
